London (20th - 22nd July)
Photo album: London, England(20th - 22nd July)
Haha I've finally gotten down to blog about London. We were so happy when we crossed the English Channel. We could finally understand what were the locals talking about. The city was very similar to Singapore in some ways. It all felt very familiar though we've both never been there before. I felt that I could really live there, you know. Would be great if I can go there to further my studies with some friends. :)
Sights
Hmm since London was our last stop, we were quite sick of being overly touristy. Haha. But we still caught the main attractions. We had loads of fun at the British Museum - especially playing the Ancient Game of Ur! I was very fascinated by the European history - vikings and all. So amazing. Glad that this was in London and not in Paris - couldnt understand a word in the description of paintings and all cos they were almost all in French. At the Big Ben, we saw something really gross. Yikes. Guys posing with what I supposed they call their Big Ben. Grossgrossgross! Hmm we also visited all the other places like Buckingham palace, Kensington palace, Chinatown, Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Millennium Bridge etcetcetc.
Here's some pictures we took at one of the Markets - Borough Market.
We probably shopped more in London than the other cities. A bit stunning due to the currency difference. But there was some major sale going around, so probably that's why. Spent loads of time at Harrods, Selfridges, H&M, FCUK etcetcetc.
Our hostel
We stayed at Olave House - just a short walk away from Earl Court station. And it was definetely the worst hostel ever! To think that I was kinda happy when we reached the hostel. It looked really pretty from the outside:
BUT the place was really dirty on the inside!! And we had to sleep on bunk beds. And the bathroom!! Yikes. Never seen so many naked bodies in my life ever. And it's not as if they were very pleasurable to look at. Yucks!
Food
Ooooo... I miss the oily greasy English fry up! Breakfast served all day long with free flow of coffee/tea at this place near our hostel. It was superbly yummylicious! *drools* It was a dream come true when I finally got to try the Krispy Kreme doughnuts that I've read about it all my txtbooks. Loved the hot original glazed! But it was damn pricey. 1 pound each! And you've got to see all the convenience food at the Sainsbury supermarket or Marks and Spencer. Really spoilt for choice. Lasagnes, pizzas, pasta, wholesome sandwiches and all. They looked really yummy! Made me wanna try everything. *slurps* I like English food! Tried the Beef Stroganoff. But Ryan said it tasted like combat ration. IT DOES NOT!!!
Had dinner at an English pub on our last night. Heh din have much pounds left to celebrate our 2nd year anniversary. In fact something really hilarious happened when we trying to finish spending all our pounds, pennies and all. Haha. But it's too embarrassing to be mentioned here. Heehee. :)
London marks the end of our Europe Trip. Looking forward to going back! SOON! :)
